TPM is equipment life cycle and performance focused

TPM is a Lean-based system applied to equipment maintenance. It focuses on a lifecycle approach using teams to improve availability, performance and quality of critical machines.

TPM is a series of methods to ensure that every machine in a production process is always able to perform its required tasks so that production is never interrupted. Using the tools of 5s, TPM seeks to maintain equipment -- particularly critical equipment -- to top performance standards.
